The Sette’s guide to summer entertaining style

How to dress yourself - and your table - for every event

Written by Clara Strunck July 14, 2021

Summer dressing can be a minefield: a whole host of different occasions, coupled with varying dress codes and – let’s face it – often unpredictable weather can make choosing an outfit undeniably tricky. So this season, look to your table for inspiration. Whether you’re planning a tropical beachside barbecue or a English garden get-together, take your cue from our coral cutlery rests, vegetable-patterned plates and strawberry-printed tablecloths and pair with the swimsuit, jeans or dress to match. Here’s our guide to dressing up this summer.

It’s easy to get your five-a-day with our Potager tablecloth, cheerful vegetable cutlery rests and plates hand-painted with seasonal delights from peas to peppers. Keep things low-key in faded jeans from SLVRLAKE and Malin Darlin’s cashmere vest, with the fashion set’s favourite (and supremely comfortable) flats from Vibi Venezia. Don’t forget to add a hobnail jug of your favourite cocktail into the mix for a party that goes on all night…

Wherever you are, conjure chilled, seaside vibes with your dining table and your outfit. Our High Tide tablecloth will transport you immediately to the South of France with its under-the-sea, painterly print, while our coral cutlery rests are so realistic, you’ll feel as if you’re actually beachside. Complete the look with blue-tinted hobnail tumblers and white cutlery, while sticking to a blue-and-white theme yourself: think a chic one-piece from Alicia Swim, a white linen shirt and a raffia bag with a twist.

What could say ‘English summer’ more than our strawberry-printed tablecloth? Pair with our red bistrot cutlery and green linen napkins for a tonal, whimsical take on a seasonal table. As for your own outfit, Wiggy Kit’s cotton seersucker dress (the perfect partner for our scallop edge crockery) sets a relaxed mood when matched with a canvas bag from Misela, trimmed in red leather. Keep make-up simple and summer-ready with some subtle blush – we love Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks.
