Synonymous with understated cool, co-founder and chief creative officer of Wardrobe ICONS Laura Fantacci has chic and easy style nailed. Raised in Italy and now based in London, Laura was an early digital adopter, leaving her job as fashion editor at Red Magazine in 2009 to concentrate full-time on her already influential blog, Wearing It Today. Now, she lets readers in to both her personal and fashion life through The ICONS Update, a digital magazine focused on finding perfect fashion staples. Loved by her 57 thousand-strong Instagram following for her minimal style, Laura also keeps things simple at home: she makes vegan cookies with her children, keeps her fridge filled with vegetables and loves a good, old-fashioned cuppa (or five…)
The kettle – I’m such a big tea drinker, I literally can’t think until I’ve had some in the morning. Some would say it’s more milk with tea than tea with milk, as it’s so weak. But I do try to stop myself after five cups!
At the moment I love Deliciously Ella’s latest book, Deliciously Ella Quick & Easy: Plant-Based Deliciousness. It’s vegan but you still feel like you’re having a proper hearty meal. I make her cookies with my children and which are relatively healthy and easy – I promise! – to make.
Vegetables – we’re a Mediterranean family in that sense. We always have tomatoes, salad and green beans on hand. I can’t really imagine a day without vegetables.
For my husband’s 40th birthday last year we managed (between lockdowns) to have a celebration and had a Japanese chef come over to cook a meal for us, which was amazing.
A beautiful table, definitely! It all starts with that for me.
I like to take flowers, because I love receiving them. But I also like to take something that’s a small luxury, something you wouldn’t normally buy for yourself, like a beautiful candle or handwash, a lip balm or an essential oil.
There’s a Greek restaurant in Notting Hill called Mazi that I can’t wait to go to. I’ve been eating their takeaway over lockdown, but they have a much fuller menu in the restaurant. I’ve never been and I can’t wait to try it.
Chocolate – I love anything with chocolate in it! It’s the one thing I really like to indulge in, along with sunshine and tanning. I know I shouldn’t, but I’m my happiest when lying on a beach.
My husband is the chef in the house. He’s recently turned almost vegan, so we’re likely to have Italian stuffed tomatoes with herbs, spices, breadcrumbs and cheese on top.
Sardinia. There’s something about it which ticks all my boxes. Crystal clear waters, beautiful sandy beaches, delicious food. It’s also where I met my husband when I was a teenager, and we go back every year with our children.
I’m terrified of flying! I force myself to do it, but if I could teleport myself I would!
Sunrise, because I love the colours, but I’m not really a morning person – I’m a bit slow. Having children means you have to force yourself to get up! But doing yoga in the morning has helped me kick off my days with a bit more energy.
I’ve been talking about this with my friends and family and actually, I’m quite happy with what I’ve got – I feel very thankful. So there’s nothing in particular I’d like, except for things to stay this way! What’s most precious to me is my work life balance.
