Racil Chalhoub on her Middle Eastern cooking secrets
The fashion designer can’t resist good chocolate and watching the sunrise after a night out
Beruit-born, Paris-raised designer Racil Chalhoub’s slick suiting is synonymous with the style set. Her namesake label, Racil, was founded in 2015 and fashion influencers soon fell in love with her unique approach to the modern tuxedo; now, she’s stocked everywhere from Selfridges to Browns. In the kitchen, Racil takes inspiration from her Middle Eastern heritage, filling her fridge with fresh fruit and vegetables to conjure recipes like roasted cauliflower with pomegranate and tahini. Despite her usually healthy habits, Racil has a sweet spot for good desserts: she’ll always take them to a dinner party and never misses her daily coffee and chocolate break. A habit we can absolutely get on board with…
My Kettle.
Dalia’s Kitchen. My childhood best friend & my go to person for all things food related! Dalia’s recipes are cosy, delicious and homey.
Lots organic fruit and vegetables, eggs, avocados, oat milk, goats cheese, and chocolate (yes I like to keep it in the fridge).
The vegetable cutlery rests, and I do love the croissant porcelain box too.
Good friends.
Dessert or delicious chocolates.
Probably La Petite Maison. Although I would much rather be rushing back to Beirut for home made Lebanese food at my parents house.
My daily coffee and chocolate break. Every afternoon, without fail.
I’ll be making roasted cauliflower with tahini and pomegranate.
The Greek islands.
I never cooked before lockdown and now I can’t get enough of it!
Both! Watching the sun set is one of my favourite and most sacred things to do, and I do love watching the sunrise but only after a good night out!
A new sofa. I have my eye on a vintage one…. And a new Sette of plates 🙂
